I was suppose to put a winter outfit together for under $40 dollars and I ended up going over.  Whoops.

It's that time of year when everything goes to clearance and the bathing suits and flip flops are making their first appearances in the stores.  (To which we all stare, flip flops in February   Oh yeah, nothing like bared feet in tiny bits of plastic to go tromping around in three feet of snow and below zero temps!)  Crazy early appearance of summer gear aside, its a great time to shop for next year's winter jacket, Sears is always awesome about putting their jackets that normally cost $200 down to clearance for $9.99.  (This usually happens in April.)   If you're in a colder climate it's always great time to stock up on sweaters that you'll still get a few months use out of.

I'm trying to think of something smart and engaging to say but my brain is on meltdown right now.   It's ridiculous how long it's taken me to type this post or string a coherent sentence together so I'm just going to stop before it gets really bad.  Night everyone!

  1. Ha, no kidding, I was just in Target today and they've got their bikinis out on display. I'm grateful its still winter...I am NOT bikini ready -_- Lol
But yes to clearances! Hehe, I scored on quite a few things too. I'll definitely be stopping in Sears now!

  4. yeah, it's totally ridiculous to tease us with beach stuff when it's snowing like crazy and summer is SO distant right now. but you're so right about the sales. I love those. it's even like an addiction :P
btw, I just love that jacket you're wearing here and you're totally rocking that maxi skirt (stripes are my love as well). oh and those turquoise jewellery pieces are lovely!

  5. It drives me nuts when they put out summer clothes now and I won't actually be able to wear them for months. I think I need to check out Old Navy and see if I can get myself a sweater for 3 bucks!

  6. Hahaha, I have the same rant about summer clothes edging out all the winter stuff just when I get tired of my winter clothes and want to revamp my winter wardrobe!

  7. I love buying coats, scarves, hats, and boots this time of year. You find the best deals! I've been looking for a new pair of snow boots and I've found some really good options under $50, but I'm holding out a little longer. I'm convinced that retailers and gyms/ diet food companies are in cahoots when it comes to putting the swimsuits out in february. It's like they do it to remind us we have our winter guts to lose, lol.

  8. I hate how stores do that when it's still 20 degrees and snowing! It's such a great time to buy sweaters since it's on sale, but all I can focus on are the new spring items. It's like they are tricking me!

Love your jacket and the striped maxi!

  9. Great jacket- I love all the little details like the gold hardware and zippers. :) It looks lovely with the striped maxi and floral scarf.
Yay for awesome winter clearance deals! I think they're putting things out earlier and earlier - I'd swear that they put out the Valentine's Day cards right after New Year's!

  10. Hi Katie, you've done so well on the wardrobe challenge, there are so many layers and excellent pieces in this outfit, its a wonder that they are all even under a $100. Lurv the parka jacket, think it has become a new classic. I wish we had sales like the ones you do, we wouldn't find such great bargins here
