Storytime: I will Wait for You

Navy Trench Coat
J.D. Hook Silk Scarf (thrifted)
Marc by Marc Jacobs (gift from my mom)
Eyeshadow Lace Dress
Icing Tights and Jewlery
Madden Girl Boots
Elephant Handbag (thrifted)

I've mentioned before that I really want to improve my photography.  The photography has become my favorite part of the bog and I really want to push myself to taking more "interesting" pictures than aren't necessarily outfit photos.  Once a week I'm going to try for a story within the photos, both to see if I can portray a line of thought or a concept and to try new things with the camera.  I'm pretty happy with how this came out although I see some areas for improvement, a few different angles or shots might have pulled the whole thing together nicely.

I suppose I've been listening to too much Mumford and Sons but I'm really pleased with how this came out.   I love shooting while it's snowing or is misty outside, sunshine is wonderful but there's something that really pulls at me when it's overcast and dark outside. (I suppose that comes from being a Seward girl.)

Since I really didn't talk about my outfit at all, I will mention this awesome elephant handbag. My godmother collects elephant figurines and has a really beautiful collection of them.  She use to let me get them down when I was a child so I could look at them. As a child it was wonderful to live across the ally from them, my grandmothers lived down in the states and both of my grandfathers had died long before I was born.  I think for most kids grandparents hold such a special place and knowing my godparents really helped fill that spot.  My godmother  just the sweetest, most wonderful person in the world and any time I see something like this purse, it makes me think of her.

  2. Oh wow, Katie, the photography is so stunning in this post! I was noticing that even before I read the text. Just...wow! I can't wait to see more from you :)
About the outfit, I just love the lacy pink dress and cool tights. Also loving the story behind the unique elephant bag. Nothing like being reminded of a loved one to make an item all the more special.

  3. this is such a special bag and the fact that it reminds you of your loved ones makes it even better and sweeter.
I also love it how you're wearing this trench in the middle of winter and are totally rocking it. oh and do I even have to say how amazing that lace dress is? I adore the colour and the pattern.
I think it's one of your coolest looks because of all those great layers and wonderful accessories. and what a coincidence that my next (sort of) outfit post will be covered with snow as well, hehe.

It looks like you are on an adventure in the snowy woods :) That lace dress is so pretty, I love the pastel purple color with the navy blazer and that elephant bag is really cool. 10. Loving those tights!! And it looks lovely with the lace dress. Look at all that snow! And I thought Canada had it bad LOL. But they do make for pretty backdrops. I like the idea of doing stories through photographs..they always seem to be inspirational!

  19. Your photos are definitely inspiration for me! It's amazing that you get such great ones using your tripod. How many do you take?

Also, re: your outfit. The first thing I noticed was that you used a regular belt on your trench coat. What a great idea!
