I've been trying to incorporate more of my work and everyday barn items into my outfits. Winter time is usually pretty slow for the barns and teaching lessons since there's only a few barns in Fairbanks with heated indoor arenas so I have more freedom in what I wear. I do want to figure it out how to wear my barn clothes in ways that don't scream "barn slave" before summer time and I'm sort of surprised by how well these boots work with a skirt. It'll be easy to toss a skirt in my bag and change out of my jeans after working at the barns and I won't need to lug around a million pairs of shoes now.
I've had my Ariat paddock boots for about 15 years now, they've made several trips to the cobbler but now that the leather's getting worn though, they probably only have one more summer left in them. Everyone I work and ride with wears the Ariat side zipper boots but I can't say enough good things about the lace ups. It seems like the zippers blow out pretty often on the zip-version so when I replace these I think I'll try to find the lace ups again, they've really just been the best boots and by now they're so well broken in that they're the most comfortable shoes I have.
I know, so much barn talk! It's nice having so much time to work with our personal horses and teaching just Izzy and Gunnar but I miss being around the other barns and my furry cutie pies as well.
Those boots look very cute with that skirt! I imagine it would be hard to look cute while working in a barn...but I love this outfit Katie :)

Such a lovely outfit. You are definitely a skirt kind of girl - it looks beautiful on you! x
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous! and that is so awesome that you get to work so closely with horses all year - i LOVE horses!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! You work in a barn and give horse-riding lessons? YOU ARE AMAZING. If you gave unicorn-riding lessons, I would love you forever. How can you survive the cold just wearing those tights? Especially when it's not in heated indoors? You are just a much stronger woman than I am! ;P

You're right, those boots do look good with that skirt. They remind me of a classier version of the grunge look that was popular in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteI love your jacket with the fur hood! It looks so warm,

You have the BEST tights, Katie. And you make me feel like such a wimp. Whenever it snows, I can't bear the thought of going outside in a dress so I throw on pants and a sweater, which I feel terrible in. How do you look so cute in the snow?? You're inspiring me to just suck it up haha
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Katie...I'm getting cold just looking at you in the snow in those thing tights. They are really awesome though!
